Expanding Business Driving Forward with NG

A tyre recycling company is expanding its operation, thanks to a new deal secured by NG Chartered Surveyors.
FJD Tyres Ltd works on the recycling and disposal of old tyres for customers all over the region. Following five years in business it was ready to expand its operation.
The firm has moved to a new 4,500 sq ft industrial unit, on a three year lease, in Wheatley’s Business Park, Moorgreen. The move has given FJD Tyres a vast yard space, plus additional space to accommodate the company’s huge machinery and electricity requirements.
Sunny Landa, of NG Chartered Surveyors said: “This unit offers a huge amount of space, and its facilities were ideal for FJD Tyres. Not only has the property given the company the room it needed to expand, its close proximity to the M1 enables the team to work across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.”
FJD Tyres was set up in November 2007, when owner David Price decided to go it alone with a van and a dream, following the collapse of the company he worked for. The company recycles and disposes of old tyres, as well as remoulding HGV tyres for the haulage industry.
Five years on, David now has two full-time members of staff and is dealing in the recycling and disposal of 3,000 tyres every week. He said: “We shred and chop around 40 tonnes of tyres each week, sending the steel strips off for recycling and the remaining rubber chips are reused, generally by the equestrian market for ménage.
“I turned to NG for help to find new premises as we were fast out-growing our old unit. Moving into the new site at Moorgreen has enabled me to invest in bigger machinery for the job. The investment means that we can grow our capacity and output, which would never have been possible before.
“I have plans for growth over the forthcoming years, and the extra room on the estate as a whole was a real benefit, enabling us to grow gradually.
“I was nervous about making the move, but the help and support I’ve had from NG has been second to none and made the whole thing much easier.”
Several units are still available on Wheatley’s Business Park.
