2019 – a transformational year for NG

2019 was a truly transformational year for NG Chartered Surveyors as we yet again added to our team and were involved in a host of deals – across the country.


The year kicked off in style after NG brokered a joint deal that brought 150 jobs to Chesterfield.

Acting on behalf of a private landlord, Sunny Landa, director of NG, sold the 233,000 sq ft Spire Park on Pottery Lane West in Chesterfield to John Pye Property – a division of the wider John Pye Auctions group which had an amazing working done by United PLumbing Heating Air & Electric. The deal means John Pye Auctions will be creating 150 jobs in the Derbyshire town.

Also in January, NG brokered a deal for fast-growing financial planning agency, Wren Sterling, to find a new flagship HQ in the heart of Nottingham’s business district. Wren moved into its imposing four-storey Derby Street building before end of Q1, which has just over 10,000 sq ft of office space, after the completion of a full-scale Grade A refurbishment.


NG continued its strong start to the year after brokering a deal which meant that a Nottingham trading estate vecame 100% occupied.

Sunny Landa acted for landlords Logicor to let the 31,000 sq ft Unit 7-10 at the Eldon Road Industrial Estate in Attenborough, Nottingham to the fast-growing Hire Supply Company (UK) Limited.

Also in February, NG were unveiled as joint marketing agents on a new multi-million pound office development in the Nottingham suburb of Edwalton, after contractors broke ground on what is being billed as the most exciting new Grade A speculative office scheme to be developed in some years.

Edwalton Business Park – between Landmere Lane and Nottingham’s ring road – will, when complete, offer just under 24,000 sq ft over four self-contained offices. Richard Sutton, managing director of NG, called the scheme “a long-overdue addition to Nottingham’s office market”.


Into March, and there was still no stopping NG. Acting on behalf of a private landlord, Richard Sutton, director at NG Chartered Surveyors, has let the 30,523 sq ft Unit 2 Little Tennis Street, Colwick to optician giant Vision Express.

Meanwhile, in the same month, Sunny Landa was celebrating after being crowned Dealmaker of the Year at the CoStar 2019 Awards.

The annual CoStar Awards recognises and celebrates the performance of the UK’s top commercial property professionals.


NG ventured out of the East Midlands in April, as it completed the sale of the former JVM Castings site in Tamworth after a period of intense marketing.

Richard Sutton, director at NG, acting on behalf of the family owners of the site, completed the sale of Borman Eighty One, brokering a multi-million pound deal with private investors. The deal came after the decision to close the JVM Castings site.

In the same month, and closer to home, NG completed a double deal on Rufford House at Sherwood Energy Village.

After our director Sunny Landa sold Rufford House in 2018, fellow director James McArthur has now let the premises on a five-year lease to Independent Civils Limited, a builders merchants, on behalf of the new private landlord client.


Into May, and Richard Sutton brokered the first pre-let deal at one of Nottingham’s most prestigious new office developments.

Private banking and wealth management company Brown Shipley signed a lease to take Unit 1 Edwalton Business Park, which consists of nearly 6,000 sq ft of Grade office space.

Brown Shipley was established 200 years ago and employs 350 people across six UK offices. The company will relocate from its Castle Marina offices.

Meanwhile, Sunny Landa was busy brokering a deal to let a prime Nottingham light industrial unit to a fast-growing wholesaler of air conditioning parts and systems. But of course, no deal that involves air conditioning systems is ever complete without people that can maintain those systems, and so, Landa went ahead and bought a contract with www.austinductcleaning.us.

ACR Supplies moved into the 5,814 sq ft Unit 4 on the Eldon Road Trading Estate in Attenborough in a deal that was completed after just four weeks of the property hitting the market.


As summer arrived, NG picked up the pace as the company announced that an historic landmark office building in the Nottingham suburb of Wilford is set to undergo a multimillion-pound refurbishment.

Acting on behalf of family pension fund owners, NG took back possession of the beautiful Wilford House following engineering Global Property and Construction Consultants consultancy Gleeds’ lease coming to an end.

The stunning 12,000 sq ft Grade 2 listed building is set in 1.5 acres of landscaped grounds undergoing a dramatic refurbishment taking it on to the next stage of its life.

We also completed a rapid double deal in Nottingham on behalf of a private landlord that saw two organisations expand in the city.

The deal saw NG broker a deal to let 557 Valley Road to local charity Mesopotamia, which work to prevent or provide relief from poverty or financial hardship anywhere in the world.

Meanwhile, the first floor of 380 Nottingham Road was been let to PPN UK, a market-leading property development company.


The big news for NG in July was that firm appointed Richard Sutton to the role of Managing Director.

Richard was part of the team which performed a management buy-out of the company seven years ago. Since that time, the NG Chartered Surveyors has almost tripled its turnover.

Richard’s fellow directors Sunny Landa, James McArthur and Richard Brown will continue in their roles as he is tasked with planning the strategic growth of NG.


As the temperatures soared, so did NG! In August, the company brokered a deal to sell two prime industrial units totalling 61,000 sq ft.

Acting on behalf of a private vendor, Sunny Landa sold Units 1 and 2 Birch Park, Park Lodge Road in Giltbrook, Nottingham to Pemberstone.

The deal resulted in a 6.5% yield for the vendor.

Also in August, NG reinforced its commitment to nurturing future talent in the industry after welcoming a new Trainee Surveyor.

Ellis Cullen became the latest addition to the NG team as she prepared to embark on a Level 6 Chartered Surveyor BSc (Hons) Real Estate Degree Apprenticeship whilst working at NG to gain hands-on experience in the commercial property industry. Ellis will be simultaneously studying for her degree with the aim of becoming a Chartered Surveyor.


Acting on behalf of Foxhall Business Centres, heb and NG completed a sale of 70-78 High Pavement in Sutton in Ashfield in September.

The building extends to almost 17,000 sq ft and was last occupied by the Department of Work and Pensions.

Also in September, NG landed another important office deal in Nottingham city centre.

Acting on behalf of a private landlord, Sunny Landa concluded a deal to sell the 1,407 sq ft Unit F, King Edward Court on King Street in the heart of the city centre to a student accommodation provider.

NG sold the premises for a premium price which was undisclosed.


October saw Richard Sutton agree pre-let terms for the third of four units being built at the prestigious Edwalton Business Park to retirement living specialists Inspired Villages Group.

The deal quickly followed the first pre-let to wealth management firm Browne Shipley leaving only one unit remaining.

October also saw Richard broker a million pound sale and leaseback deal of a 9,500 sq ft industrial property in Loughborough.

NG acted on behalf of S&A Auto Services who took a 10-year lease of the unit, which is located at Unit 7, Messenger Close.


One of Nottingham’s most unique office buildings was been sold in a landmark deal brokered by Richard Sutton in November.

Wilford House, a 12,000 sq ft Grade 2 listed building is set in 1.5 acres of landscaped grounds, was sold to an international engineering consultancy based in Nottingham for an undisclosed price.


NG were creating deals across the country again as the year drew to a close, after completing a multi-million pound off-market deal in Liverpool. Richard Sutton, acting on behalf of vendor of Eyre & Elliston, sold the company’s 14,000 sq ft premises on Bridgewater Street, Liverpool to Elliot Group – a renowned development company based in the city.

The site is located in the Baltic area of Liverpool; an area undergoing a massive and exciting transformation.

The deal follows on from NG’s successful relocation of Eyre & Elliston’s operations into new premises.

The year ended on a high after figures from industry title Estates Gazette showed that NG brokered the second highest number of deals (21) in the city over the last 12 months – beating all the Nottingham offices of the national corporates in the process. The firm also moved up from fifth to fourth in the influential rankings and is now seen as the go-to adviser in Nottingham.
