Energy Performance Certificate Changes Delayed

- The requirement to commission an EPC before marketing for sale or rent will apply to all buildings, including non-domestic buildings
- The current 28 day period within which an EPC is to be secured is reduced to 7 days
- Trading Standards Officers will be able to require a seller or landlord’s agent to produce a copy of an EPC for inspection
- An EPC must be attached to written particulars in relation to all buildings sold or rented out
The amendments seek to extend and in some cases clarify the existing EPC regime and were due to come into effect in the summer.
Implementation has been delayed and the changes will now come in to force on 6th April 2012. DCLG will be issuing further information and additional interim guidance in due course.
