NG and NBV Team Up to Help Local Enterprises
22nd November 2013
NG Chartered Surveyors has completed a deal to enable NBV Enterprise Solutions Ltd (NBV), the leading East Midlands small business start-up and support organisation, to open one of the largest community enterprise complexes in the UK.
The centre, due to open in 2014 following the purchase of an old Benefits Agency building located in David Lane in Basford (Notts), is to become a dynamic, community-based hub for budding Nottingham entrepreneurs.
Richard Sutton, director at NG Chartered Surveyors, said: “It’s great to see this new development gathering pace. We first started working with NBV back in 2009 and have been advising them on this move ever since.
“It’s been a long and rewarding project, and I look forward to seeing the scheme come to fruition, as it begins to create the business leaders of the future.”
Investing a total of £3.4m into the David Lane site with £2.8 million coming from the European Regional Development Fund, NBV’s refurbishment of the site is transforming the premises, bringing back into use a vacant and derelict old building, contributing to the regeneration of the area and creating an important business support and accommodation facility for Nottingham at a time when businesses are facing economic challenges like never before.
In the coming months, the 25,000 sq ft building will become a centre of excellence, providing multi-purpose office suites with state of the art facilities, coupled with fully equipped meeting, conference and training rooms.
In addition, the NBV on-site team of advisers will offer help and expertise as and when required. Public access areas will include a wi-fi enabled in-house café and ‘hot desking’ facilities for both resident and visitor businesses and their clients.
Once opened, this community-based enterprise operation will also offer outreach support to local entrepreneurs, enterprise training workshops, business advice and support and access to business finance.
Richard Dearden, NBV’s CEO, said: “We first started working with NG in 2009 when they started a project to identify suitable sites for redevelopment. Richard and his team put forward David Lane in 2010 and began working on the negotiating and acquisition work immediately.
“We really feel that NG has gone the extra mile to help us get to where we are today with David Lane. The team has worked with great skill and diplomacy to bring the deal forward, and I can’t praise them highly enough.
“We’re continuing to work with NG in other areas of our business, and we’re building a very valuable partnership together.”
