NG Helps Firm Double Size of Space to Meet Demand
30th March 2012
A Sutton-in-Ashfield family business has doubled the size of its distribution centre in order to meet the growing demand for its products in the UK and overseas.
DJN, a firm founded 12 years ago by ex-miner Dave North, is a distributor of filters to the manufacturing industry.
Dave, who works alongside wife Kay and son Richard, says that DJN has grown due to increased business overseas and customers shopping around for improved prices and products.
Acting on behalf of the landlord Walker & Sons Hauliers, NG Chartered Surveyors has let the 15,000 sq ft unit 4A in Hamilton Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield to DJN.
“We have moved from just around the corner and our new building is twice the size of where we were,” says Dave. “And there is room for further expansion. We are starting a new service for cleaning filters which means we need extra space.”
Richard Sutton of NG said: “It is always great to see local businesses doing well – and DJN’s expansion is not only good news for Dave and his family, but also for the area.
“It is a convenient move for DJN – as they have moved just around the corner. The building was ideal for DJN’s needs and as a distributor of goods, it is important for the company to be close to the M1 and the A38.”
Dave added: “This is our third year as a limited company. I used to work for British Coal and when I left, I looked around for something to do and hit upon this.
“Our business has flourished thanks to the internet, organic growth – and word of mouth about our products.”
Other units are still available in Hamilton Road. Unit 3 is 15,700 sq ft, unit 2 is 26,000 sq ft and unit 4b is 14,250 sq ft.
The units are suitable for light industrial, storage and distribution, says Richard. “This is cost effective warehousing at its very best,” he added.
