NG Strengthens Business Rates Dept Ahead of 2017 Rating Revaluation

NG Chartered Surveyors have appointed David Cureton as a Consultant specialising in business rates appeals and rates audit as it expands the professional department.
David brings with him more than 30 years’ experience in the property industry.Starting as a trainee estate agent, has helped major occupiers such as Argos, Bristol Street Motors, Halfords, Homebase, H Samuel, Natwest, Lloyds Banking Group, Trent Buses, to reduce their rate bills by millions of pounds.
Previous roles include Head of rating at Johnson Fellows team leader of BNP Paribas’ Birmingham rating department and King Sturge (now JLL) Nottingham.
Welcoming David to the team, director partner Richard Sutton said:

David, aged 57, said: “NG is a niche, specialist practice with a wealth of experience and a strong, reputable client base. I am delighted to join the team, many of whom I have known for over 15 years and I am looking forward to growing the department and continuing to help clients make substantial savings on their business rates.
“The rating system is not conducive to being easily understood by many ratepayers and the system is currently being overhauled again with the introduction of Check, Challenge Appeal in respect of appeals initiated for the 2017 rating revaluation. There are a number of measures out there to assist building owners to minimise their liability with respect to empty rates.”
